Sam Bakshian,
MD, QME
Dr. Bakshian
grew up in Southern California. After completing his Bachelor of Science Degree at
UCLA, he moved to New
York where he
completed his medical training at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. In 1992,
he returned back to his hometown and completed an Orthopaedic
Surgery Residency at the University of Southern California. Throughout his career Dr. Bakshian
has had an interest in managing spinal disorders. He has been involved with
research projects on mechanical stability of the spine and this led him to
pursue further subspecialty training in management of spinal disorders. After
having completed his spinal surgery fellowship at the Southern California Orthopaedic Institute in 1998, he started in private
practice in Los Angeles at Tower Orthopaedics in
the Cedar Sinai Medical Towers.
Dr. Bakshian specializes in the surgical and
non-surgical management of disorders of the cervical, thoracic and lumbar
spine. This includes degenerative disease, disc herniations,
spinal stenosis, spinal deformity, spinal trauma as
well as spinal tumors. Dr. Bakshian has been further
involved in the minimally invasive management of spinal disorders and endoscopic techniques as well as minimally invasive spinal
fusions. Dr. Bakshian is actively involved with
teaching and has given numerous seminar and continuing
medical education meeting on this matter. He is presently an attending
physician at Cedar Sinai Medical Center and is a member of the Cedar Sinai Institute for
Spinal Disorders.
Dr. Bakshian is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons as
well as a member of the American Medical Association. He is also a Qualified
Medical Examiner for the California Industrial Medical Council Department of
Industrial Relations and is proficient with the rules and regulations regarding
industrial injuries. Dr. Bakshian considers himself a true patient advocate.
To balance out this vigorous lifestyle, Dr. Bakshian
enjoys golfing, sailing, scuba diving, and maintaining a good sense of humor.
