Serge Obukhov, MD, PhD

 

Dr. Serge Obukhov brings to Bell Medical Center extensive clinical and academic experience in Neurosurgery.  He is well-known around the world for his academic accomplishments in the past 20 years.  Particularly, he is specializing in minimally invasive and complex spinal reconstructive surgery.

 

Dr. Obukhov completed his medical education at Second Moscow Medical Institute in 1979.  After medical school, he was trained in Neurosurgery under famous professors I. Kachkov, A. Konovalov, and F. Serbinenko.  After becoming a Neurosurgeon, he took part in many multi-national research studies in the field.  He has been a visiting professor at Hungarian National Neurosurgical Center, University Clinic of Neurosurgery in Vienna, Franchay Hospital in Bristol and Middlesex Hospital in London, UK, Duke University Medical Center, Medical University of Southern Africa, and Good Samaritan, Emanuel and Providence Hospitals in Portland, Oregon.  Prior to moving to Los Angeles he was Clinical Professor of Neurosurgery at Tulane University in New Orleans.

 

Dr. Obukhov has published 29 scientific papers.  He presented at many National and International Congresses.  He is a member of European Association of Neurosurgical Societies, World Federation of Neurosurgical Societies, International Pediatric Neurosurgical Society, and AANS/CNS Section on Disorders of the Spine and Peripheral nerves.  He holds medical license in the states of Mississippi, Louisiana, Washington, and California.
